  • Executive Guidance: Served on boards for an accounting firm, several banks, and Chambers of Commerce guiding financial decisions and ensuring transparency.
  • Legislative Fiscal Leadership:  In the Minnesota Senate, Scott served as Vice Chair of the Health & Human Services Committee.  In this role, he helped oversee one of the largest and most complex portions of the state budget, focusing on efficiency and accountability.
  • Educator & Training Leadership:  As an adjunct associate professor at the University of MN, Scott brings university-level teaching experience to the Auditor's role to educate and support local governments with financial best practices, internal controls and compliance.
  • Lead Contract Negotiator:  Scott was Chair of the Waconia School Board where he skillfully led negotiations for teacher contracts.  He protected taxpayer interests while successfully navigating multi-million dollar budget allocations.
  • Entrepreneurial Success:  As an entrepreneur, Scott has demonstrated fiscal discipline and an understanding of the rigors of high-level oversight.  Scott has built businesses from the ground up.  In addition to building the physical infrastructure of multiple clinics and other businesses, he successfully manages capital, leads teams and casts a vision for duplication.
  • Education:  In addition to earning multiple degrees through the University of Minnesota, including a B.A. in Physiology and a Doctor of Medicine degree, Scott completed a Mini MBA program at the University of St. Thomas and a Bush Fellowship for Leadership and Policy Studies through the University of Minnesota's Masters Program.  Furthermore, he has achieved the completion of leadership certificate programs through both the Management and Development Institute of Eckerd College and the Master of Liberal Studies at the University of Minnesota.

Scott earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota in 1981 and completed his residency at Bethesda Hospital, where he was honored as one of the nation’s top family practice residents.

After Dr. Jensen completed his residency at Bethesda Hospital, he opened his own medical practice, anchored in Watertown and Chaska. Over the years, he has put his inquisitive spirit to work for patients, working with them and asking questions in order to not only provide accurate diagnoses, but also to empower patients to take control of their own care.

In 2016, he was recognized by his peers and was named Family Physician of the Year by the Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians. He also published his first book “Relationship Matters, The Foundation of Medical Care Is Fracturing”, which tells patient stories to emphasize the critical value of the patient-doctor relationship. The book expresses Dr. Jensen’s strong belief in the absolute need for patients to be their own “champion” for their health care decisions.

CIVIC PILLAR

Scott's leadership extends to the heart of the community.  In addition to serving on the Southwest Metro Corridor Coalition, he presided over multiple Lions Clubs and Rotary Clubs where he championed local economic development and service-driven budgeting.

Scott has also served on numerous church councils and on the board of the Carver County Historical Society.  Additionally, Scott has volunteered at the St. Paul Gospel Mission as well as with several other community organizations.

Scott Jensen was born and raised in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, and graduated valedictorian of his high school class in 1973. He went on to earn a degree in physiology, magna cum laude, from the University of Minnesota, and later attended Luther Theological Seminary, where he made two life-changing decisions: he proposed to his wife Mary, and chose to pursue medicine.

Scott and Mary have lived in Carver County, Minnesota, for over 35 years, where they raised their three children: Cristy, an anesthesiologist; Matt, an estate attorney; and Jackie, a family doctor.

Mary is devoted to a life of service, being involved in church, community, and civic groups. She served as a veterinarian for more than 40 years, taking care of cats and dogs, snakes and iguanas, rabbits and birds, and even cougars and raccoons. She likes to golf, hike & bike and has been nominated by her grandchildren as Grandmother of the Year!

Deeply rooted in faith, medicine, and service, the Jensen family reflects Scott’s lifelong commitment to community, hard work, and caring for others. With seven grandchildren, family remains Scott’s greatest joy and driving force for a better Minnesota.

Over these many years, Scott earned a reputation as a principled reformer who put people before politics, whether fighting for affordable healthcare, improving education, or standing up for personal freedoms.  A husband, father, and grandfather, Scott Jensen is running to restore lawful, efficient, and transparent stewardship of your hard-earned tax dollars.
